Annual Meeting
A new Board of Directors was elected at the recent annual meeting of VashonBePrepared. Other important positions were also filled, and our immediate past Co-Presidents, Tag Gornall and John Cornelison were honored.
Spring 2008 CERT Class Graduates
On April 25th, 2008 thirteen dedicated, community volunteers completed Vashon's ninth (Community Emergency Response Team) CERT training course. These graduates bring the total number of citizens who are CERT trained to 169.

VoV is on the air
Voice of Vashon finally has a 24/7 radio station on the air. Broadcasting on 1650 AM, VoV Standing By is a low power information service that can be heard right now in central Vashon.
Pet Preparedness
At the time of the event you and many other residents of Vashon are on the mainland. Your dogs are locked in the house. There is no power to your aquarium. Did the fences in the pasture and the horses survive? Efforts to contact your neighbors are unproductive and you and they have never discussed what should be done in such an unlikely circumstance.
Disaster Preparedness on Vashon - Volunteers make it possible
A disaster strikes. Are there fatalities, casualties, houses destroyed or damaged, roads blocked? Are utilities out? How will we know and who responds to those in need? Everyone on Vashon will have a chance to find out from 8:00 a.m. until noon on October 13th when Vashonęs Disaster Response Plan will be tested. The reason? The Pacific Northwest faces potentially catastrophic disasters and the safety and well-being of Vashonęs residents could be endangered.

There will be people and equipment there all weekend ready and eager to get you involved in this important and fun hobby that is a key ingredient in our disaster preparedness.
